PSA POSTER PROJECT
I was given the opportunity to create some PSA posters of my choice. I decided to correlate with our local high school and do some posters for their new Pathway Program which gives students the opportunity to take classes in high school that will help them get certified in a career field or take college courses and get their college Associates Degree when they graduate from high school.
We were to include a design strategy and I chose metaphor. The hands in the posters are grasping a drawing of objects that represent a career in the specific category. I really like that the drawings give the idea that the career is attainable, but not yet a reality! The student will have to work towards achieving that goal.
Less than a third of our local graduates go on to college and far too many are dropping out before they graduate high school. I hope these posters empower the students with the idea that their future is bright and full of possibilities and this program is there to help make their dreams a reality. I am excited for this program and hope it helps the youth in our community succeed.
I took all my own reference photos and the hands are actually locals who work in our community in the career field on the poster! I thought that was a fun connection.
